How to start Saturday (& Sunday) mornings

Happy Saturday my lovely reader,

Phew… we are more than half way through September, can you believe it?!

In the last 2 weeks, I have been talking to you a lot about finding balance in your life, about boundaries, and about creating the space you need to lead a life that feels happy, free, and light. I have found this to be a particular important topic for women, because only when we feel happy, free, and light, can we connect with our authentic femininity and dwell in our own greatest power and potential.

Because I know how stressful this time of year can be, I wanted to send you a quick reminder to really use these fall weekends to fuel yourself –mind, body, spirit- in whatever way you need.

Ask yourself:

What do I need today to bring more balance into my life?

On some weekends that might mean that you are out and about, running around the city, chatting up a storm with your girlfriends over brunch, going to concerts and dinner parties, drinking a glass of wine too many, or celebrating until deep into the night. These kinds of weekends can be super fun and nourishing if you are in need of that lively, fire-y energy.

However, on other weekends you might need some more chill out time on the couch, reading a book, lighting some candles, listening to soft music, going to a yoga class, taking naps, and brewing a new kind of tea. It might mean that you get a massage and make dinner at home or it might mean you go on a long walk by yourself.

So this morning, take a moment and ask:

Do I need to infuse my day with lively, fire-y energy or with calm, grounding energy?

Especially as we are going into the colder months of the year with mile-long 2013 still-to-do lists, lots of holidays and family gatherings, we need to pay extra special attention to how we feel and how we can nourish ourselves accordingly, so we don’t burn out and crash.

If you want to take your self-care regimen up a notch or if you simply know that the colder months and less daylight can be hard on you (hello Seasonal Defective Disorder!), I would love to introduce you to my friend Tara Mullarkey. Tara is a yogi and life-coach and hosts amazing retreats in Tulum, Mexico. Her next retreat is coming up November 7-12 and is called Yoga and Feminine Soul Retreat. There will be lots of yoga, meditation, group workshops, and delicious meals as well as plenty of chill out time. Sounds like the perfect way to round off the year feeling calm and centered, doesn’t it?!
